CONFIRMATION FORMATION EXPECTATIONS

All 7^th & 8^th grade Candidates are expected to attend either Family Faith Formation Sessions at St. Patrick Parish on Sunday evenings, twice a month, as per our Middle School Faith Formation Calendar, or York Catholic School for Confirmation Catechesis; and to attend Mass every Saturday evening or Sunday, as well as holy days of obligation.

8^th Grade Confirmation Expectations

All 7th & 8th Grade Confirmation parents – whose children attend York Catholic or Public Schools are expected to attend two Confirmation Parent & Student Sessions. A simple dinner will be provided: ~ after 5:30pm Mass– 6-8pm in Brenner Hall:  Sun., Sept. 28, 2025, Sun., Feb. 1, 2026

All 8^th Grade Confirmation parents - need to register their children for reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation - by Oct. 26, 2025 - Click for Registration.

All 8^th grade candidates will write the Bishop of Harrisburg and the Pastor on why they wish to be confirmed, answering all questions contained in the letter sample prompts.  Due March 7, 2026 - Click for Bishop Letter

All 8^th grade candidates - York Catholic & Public Schools – are expected to attend the Confirmation Retreat at St. Patrick Church Sat. March 7,2026, 10:00am – 5:30pm (to include students & parents for Adoration and Penance at 10am, followed by student only retreat, & all gather back 4:30pm Mass for the Rite of Enrollment).
 
All 8^th grade candidates and at least one parent are to attend either the Opening of the Parish 40 Hours on Sun. Mar. 15, 2026 7:00pm or the Closing of Parish 40 Hours Tues. Mar. 17, 2026 7:00pm.

All 8^th grade candidates, prior to confirmation, will be interviewed by the Parish Clergy to determine readiness for the Sacrament, Mar. 21st and/or Mar. 24, 2026. All students must sign up a time slot.

All 8th grade candidates will complete a total of 6 service projects (2 for church, 2 for community, 2 for family). Service reflection forms are due to the Faith Formation Office by Mar. 29, 2026.  School service hours can count toward Confirmation Service projects, but candidates must submit a Confirmation service reflection sheet for each project. - Click for Service Form
